Even more to report

Gosh, things are really cracking along here. We now have curtains! Well, sort of. What we actually have is one pair of long curtains up at one short window.

I think I'll match some paint to the turquoise stripes and paint the curtain poles

I have marked for the hemline and tomorrow I shall take them down again, cut them up, hem them… and then make a second pair from the leftovers and hang them in the second window.

This is ambitious for me. I have a sewing machine. I have had it for a long time. About 12 years, I think. It has scarcely been used. Sewing is not a task that I enjoy very much, though I do intend to do more of it now that I have a good space to work in. It would all be so much easier if only I could thread the needle.

Yes. It is that bad.

Space to work - what a tidy table! The top is to be stripped and then painted with white eggshell

The thing is… at the time that I purchased the sewing machine, I also bought a pattern and some material, plus all the notions that I required for the job. At some point, I should knuckle down to making that outfit up, shouldn’t I?

Yep.

But not until I have finished primping my lovely new studio space.

Oh, the old curtains (silk taffeta in a dark green tartan) are kind of in a dire state. Sun-rotted. In places they hang in literal shreds, I am thinking that I’ll give them a gentle wash then cut up the better parts into strips and do some kind of weaving exercise with them.  I have no idea what they will become but I definitely see them as woven rags.

Waste not, want not.

Obviously there will be much to blog about in the coming months. I am very excited about my new space and the increased level of productivity that I expect to reach in it. I really do plan to tackle all of those “one day, I shall” projects at long last.

Are you coming along for the ride? Please say that you will. Company will be fun.

By the way, what do you think about a rectangular ceramic tray of succulents for the centre of the table?

Are succulents some kind of plant? Way out of my area of expertise. Don’t you want to keep the table clear so you have space for large projects?

Yes, succulents are planst. Very special hard-for-me-to-kill plants that I am hoping the cats will not wish to eat.

Yes, I want to keep the table clear for work but it looks awful bare and unfriendly that way. I’m thinking a plant arrangement in a single container will be easy to move when required but will make the place look attractive and welcoming when there is no work in progress.

I ordered a six-variety-pack from eBay last night! Just need a pretty and suitable container now for my mini indoor garden.
