Gosh, things are really cracking along here. We now have curtains! Well, sort of. What we actually have is one pair of long curtains up at one short window.
I have marked for the hemline and tomorrow I shall take them down again, cut them up, hem them… and then make a second pair from the leftovers and hang them in the second window.
This is ambitious for me. I have a sewing machine. I have had it for a long time. About 12 years, I think. It has scarcely been used. Sewing is not a task that I enjoy very much, though I do intend to do more of it now that I have a good space to work in. It would all be so much easier if only I could thread the needle.
Yes. It is that bad.
The thing is… at the time that I purchased the sewing machine, I also bought a pattern and some material, plus all the notions that I required for the job. At some point, I should knuckle down to making that outfit up, shouldn’t I?
But not until I have finished primping my lovely new studio space.
Oh, the old curtains (silk taffeta in a dark green tartan) are kind of in a dire state. Sun-rotted. In places they hang in literal shreds, I am thinking that I’ll give them a gentle wash then cut up the better parts into strips and do some kind of weaving exercise with them. I have no idea what they will become but I definitely see them as woven rags.
Waste not, want not.
Obviously there will be much to blog about in the coming months. I am very excited about my new space and the increased level of productivity that I expect to reach in it. I really do plan to tackle all of those “one day, I shall” projects at long last.
Are you coming along for the ride? Please say that you will. Company will be fun.
By the way, what do you think about a rectangular ceramic tray of succulents for the centre of the table?
