Just a fleeting visit as I am getting ready to go for the ferry. Mr L has left to catch his plane and we are both now wondering why I did not elect to go with him… for the sake of £19. Things would have been far less chaotic had I not been focused on my pre-paid ferry tickets!
I shall arrive in Kirkwall just after 12:00 – the time that Mr L is scheduled for his procedure, so although I cannot hold his hand beforehand, I can at least leg it up to the hospital and be there when he comes out of theatre. He’s only having a mild sedation, not a GA. Normal procedure allows for 45 minutes recovery time, so as long as he progresses normally, we may get out for some lunch together before rushing back to the boat for 3pm. He’ll be starving as he has had nothing to eat since Tuesday tea time (crackers and cheese) and existed yesterday on mugs of vegetable bouillon… today he is allowed only water, up until 10:00am.
The mitts are coming with me today. I doubt I’ll be able to concentrate on them much but they may come in handy if waiting at the hospital.
We spent all day yesterday puzzling – it helped to keep Mr L’s mind occupied, if nothing else. We did find a couple of solutions, rising to 23rd on the leader board at one point. I have printed today’s puzzles off to tackle on the boat home this afternoon. Overall, the puzzles seem far tougher this year and solve rates for many of them are really low. As of last night we had 7/12 and that seems pretty respectable, give the amount of upheaval in our lives just now.
See you on the other side. I need to take the dogs out.
