About Us

New-logo150pxWelcome to Sanday Spinners, the outlet for craft spinners, weavers and knitters from the island of Sanday, in Orkney. We have been selling Ashford equipment to spinners and weavers on the island since early 2008. We also sell online and have added hand-crafted items made here on our island, and local fleece to our range. If you do not already spin, we can teach you how — why not book an Introduction to Spinning course. You can also read all our news and keep up to date with what is currently on our own wheels.

We sell Ashford products at very competitive prices, and postage and packing on Ashford wheels and looms is free of charge to all UK buyers.

There will always be some really exceptional Special Offers available, particularly our discounts on combination purchases. Please take a look at these before buying.

Although we work hard to keep our prices competitive, due to a price increase from our supplier we had to bring prices into line. We have done all that we can to keep our prices as low as possible.

Please do not hesitate to ask for help if anything on the site is working oddly or you have any problems at all. Email, Contact Form or Skype – we will sort you out as quickly as we can.

 Learn to Spin Kit

Beginner spinners can benefit from our Learn to Spin kit – everything you need to learn to spin (except one of our courses!) in one discount purchase. This package represents really good value for money and comes with a choice of spinning wheel models.

If you buy one of these kits, we’ll knock a little extra off the price of one of our spinning courses. Taking one of our courses? Let us know and we’ll take a fraction more off the kit for you.

Sanday-made Craft Goods

We are now offering a shop window for local craftspeople.

The Sanday Difference

Sanday is a very special and wholly different place in which to live and work. We want that difference to show in our dealings with you and we hope that you will find us approachable and friendly and that our site will be engaging and informative. We are not “just another online shop” and we plan to become every spinner’s first stop for community resources. Do read more about us and our history if you have the time, and please feel absolutely comfortable about contacting us at any time. You can follow us at Twitter and at Facebook. We shall be very happy to make your acquaintance.
