The Bank Holiday saw us blessed with some sensationally good weather and despite our fears that time might be better spent out in the open air rather than in talking to spinners… we did have visitors to our Open Studio on both days. We had some return visitors, last seen two years ago, and also a very welcome visit from a well-known Orkney name and it was very good to put a face to the name.
Saturday was such an excellent day that we took our wheels outside and did our spinning in the sun.
For the June Soulka, we shall be opening at the same hours again – 10:30 – 13:00 on all three days: Friday, Saturday and Sunday 28th – 30th June. As always, the kettle will be on.
I have done no spinning for a very long time and so was still working on that green/blue roving. I now need to finish it off quickly and to prepare myself for the forthcoming Tour de Fleece. I am using the event to propel my efforts towards my North Ron aran sweater.
No. Don’t laugh. I have the oil bottle in my hand and the roving sorted. Truly. No. I mean it. If I declare that I am doing it, I shall have to – or there will be egg on face.
