A handy and simple tool for winding neat balls of yarn. The Sanday Nostepinne is approximately 30cm (12″) long and is hand-made especially for us by a local craftsman.
Each nostepinne is unique.
February 2013: We have new stock. These nosties are rather on the large side when it comes to the grip, but do benefit from being extremely lightweight as they are made from Larch wood (reclaimed from the East Kirk).

A Nostepinne, or “Nest Stick” is the original low tech solution to turning those wonderful skeins of our handspun yarn into tame balls from which to knit. Follow the instructions here, or watch this video at You Tube, and you will soon be wielding your nest stick with confidence.
Our beautiful Nostepinnes are hand turned and finished here on Sanday by a local craftsman. A variety of woods are used and each Nostepinne is unique.
