Orders & Payments

We’d like the whole world to spin! Our prices reflect our desire to enable as many people as possible. We find that more satisfying than the profit motive.  We hope that you find our prices attractive.

Wherever possible, our prices are either p&p inclusive or offer free delivery terms in the UK. Where we do make delivery charges, we do so in order to keep our product prices as attractive as possible.

In the case of multiple purchases, we hope that our software intelligently offers you the best possible delivery price for your order. (We spent more than enough time setting up and testing the delivery charges. It wasn’t easy and we shall be most upset if we got it wrong!)  To ensure that it does, please do use the calculator feature to force any updates that might be outstanding.

We can supply orders overseas, and International customers are welcome to contact us in order to arrange appropriate delivery charges where they are not already explicit.

Orders for Ashford Wheels and Looms will be forwarded to the UK distributor by the end of the next working day. Delivery times are then in their hands. We suggest that you can expect delivery within 14 working days from ordering (under normal circumstances – but please be more generous at holiday times), but our own experience is that orders normally arrive within 10 days – even when sent overseas. Some customers in the south of England receive their deliveries in just 3 days.

We are currently taking secure  payments via PayPal. No PayPal account is required — you may use your Credit Card at PayPal if you prefer. You may also pay by Direct Bank Transfer, or cheque (at a pinch). Sanday residents may pay C.O.D.

Many Ashford items are sent direct to you from the distributor (see above.) We do not currently hold many stocks of smaller Ashford items. We can order these in for you but they may attract additional postage charges.

Sanday exclusives and KnitPro items are held in stock.

Items held in stock will be mailed to you on our next posting day following your  order.

We mail parcels twice a week – on Tuesdays and Fridays.

We will normally use Royal Mail second class services, unless you ask us to do differently. Extra charges incurred may be passed on to you, so please ask before placing your order.

Urgent orders can be mailed on other days on request but please be aware that our Post Office has limited opening hours and not every request can be feasibly satisfied. This is one of the possibly inconvenient quirks of island living and working. We manage to live with the restriction and we hope that you can cope with it  too. We try to compensate by going that “extra mile” in every other aspect of our service. Let us be honest — we would like you to be charmed by the notion of trading with this possibly distant island community, hiccups and all.

We recycle packing materials wherever possible and hope that you will be sympathetic to this approach which is not only greener but also saves you money.

  • Tissue wrapping is new, recycled paper wherever possible.
  • Cardboard mailing tubes for long knitting needles are new, recycled cardboard.
  • Smaller KnitPro items are mailed in new MailLite packages and will include re-used cardboard reinforcement where we believe it to be necessary.
  • We often make re-use of old mailers and bubble wrap.

If you are purchasing gift items to be sent directly to a lucky recipient, please let us know if you would prefer us to ensure the use of new packaging.

Also if you would like an anonymous outer wrapper that does not show that it comes from us – please note this on your order.
