I’ve written a few posts about my Shetland shawl, both whilst it was in progress, and then a post with a photo after it was finished. Here’s another photo (sorry about the quality. I took it on my phone in the school hall). At the last minute, I entered it into the Shawl class rather […]
The flurry of work for this year’s Show actually paid off. I was very successful and in fact took First place in every Knitting class that I entered. That is amazing.
I didn’t enter much in the show this year, just four sheep and five items in the Industrial Show. We gathered the sheep in the day before the show and, having decided which ones were going, put the rest back out and trimmed the ewes that were going in the “Any Other Breed of Sheep […]
Home from the Show. I had a lovely day. We set off to walk the long way round, via the Peedie Sea, Hammerbrake, and the Sanday airfield – and the walk was really enjoyable. The Show itself was very quiet this year, both in the atmosphere on the field and on the Industrial Show tables. […]

I didn’t win anything in the Industrial Show this year, but that’s not the point of entering. There was a great variety of beautiful craftwork on show, from Beth’s Trophy-winning Shetland shawl, to Jim’s […]

At last I’m getting around to posting photos of the completed Jacob Waistcoat. It was fun to knit and even got a prize at the Sanday Show! The pattern needed a little correction, but it knitted up quickly and I may make another soon.
Well, since March we’ve had 19 lambs out of 12 ewes, sheared 20 sheep, and now it’s time to get sheep and horses ready for the annual Sanday Show. I’m taking 12 sheep and both horses (the horse classes are a bit low on numbers this year, so I’ve entered both of them). Decided to […]
