The Adventures of a Toe-up Sock

One reason I like knitting socks, apart from the obvious one of the feeling of wearing a pair of socks knitted by my own fair hands, is that sock knitting is a small project that can be easily carried around and whipped out at every opportunity to knit. So the foot of my sock gradually lengthened until on Monday I had to go into town – a three hour ferry trip and a long day in town. I was about half way down the foot at the start of Monday. By the end of the day I was ready to turn my heel.

Over the next couple of days I was stand-in secretary at the school, so the sock got knitted in the staffroom at coffee breaks, and the heel progressed to half way.
