Spinning Group seemed very quiet yesterday after all of Friday’s hubbub. When I wasn’t hard at work spinning my silk hankies on the Traveller, I took a photograph of Gill hard at work on her handspun Shetland Shawl

Jennifer  had stocked up on fibre and was busy blending it on our Ashford Blending Board – she managed to make 9 rolags before going home to spin them.

Today I have been plying the silk that I spun yesterday together with some wool singles. I tried another “peekaboo” shot (explanation: a photo forum I subscribe to has issued a weekly challenge of “Frames”)

I was working (playing!) in the conservatory as the electricity was off this morning. I like to think that I was directly converting the sun’s power to move the wheel – it was certainly a lot easier to move my creaky old bones in the warmth of the conservatory than in the cold house – and plying seemed a better deal than making beds and tidying up, to my mind.
