Oh, my goodness, what a horrible day it is for the Soulka! Yesterday was gorgeous – today… frankly, grim. Norma, swathed in waterproofs has just delivered the mail. Only the curlews in the garden seem not to mind the rain. Unfortunately Suzie caught one of their babies this morning when I went to put our sign out for the Open Studio. I was furious with her. It managed to fly away, so perhaps no harm done.
Today we are mainly preparing for the Tour de Fleece, which begins tomorrow.
- Jennifer will be carding raw fleece on the drum carder.
- Gill will be spinning some singles from Jacob fleece
- I shall be desperately trying to finish off my Ashford sliver – 1 bobbin of singles to complete and then 2 bobbins to ply together.
So, if you are on the island, do pop in to see what we are up to. The kettle is on and we can find a place to dry your coat and boots.
I think we’ll stay open beyond the official opening hours today and provide a refuge for the drenched. Drop in at any time and we shall make you welcome.
