What to do?

These are this year’s winning skeins.

I wish to knit them into something that can be entered next year as an “Item Knitted from Handspun Yarn”. I have 450 yards of two-plyed yarn from 100g of fibre – more on the light fingering side than a real laceweight. I think it’s a merino/silk.

So – suggestions, please! Not socks.

If you are looking for something straightforward, how about http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sophies-cowl
That might do for ferry knitting (I’m assuming your socks won’t last long as ferry knitting).

If you want charts, there seem to be plenty of lace shawls as options. I spotted one by Ysolda Teague on page 1 that looked quite nice.

I’d rather do something fancy than simple – I’ve set the bar high this year 🙂

Sophie is not speaking to me, alas. I’ve done an Orchid Thief (entered in the 100g class)

I’m very taken with the Rivington Cowl but will need to spin up a neutral yarn in a matching weight. I do think it would be worth the effort, it should look very striking.

How did you do with the holiday knitting?
